How much of our team's time does it need?
Enough to be accurate, typically a few interviews and workshops plus review time. We plan around your availability.
Will you tell us if we do not need to build anything?
Yes. A good discovery sometimes concludes that a configuration change or off-the-shelf tool is enough.
Who owns what we build?
You do. Source code, configuration, data and documentation are yours, agreed in writing before work starts. We avoid proprietary lock-in and document what we build so another team could take it over.

How much does a technology discovery engagement cost?

How long does a discovery engagement take?
Most engagements run over 2–4 weeks, depending on the number of systems, stakeholders, and the depth of the process mapping required. You will know the timeline before we start.
What if I already know what I want to build?
Discovery still adds value — it validates your assumptions, surfaces risks you may not have considered, and gives vendors a clearer brief to price against. Many clients who come to us with a clear idea find the solution changes significantly after a proper discovery.
Can we go straight to build without a discovery?
For smaller, well-defined projects we can scope and build directly. But for anything involving system integration, custom software, or complex workflow automation, we strongly recommend at least a light discovery phase. The cost of getting it wrong far exceeds the cost of getting it right first.
Who needs to be involved from our side?
We typically need one or two people who understand the business processes in detail — often the owner or operations lead. We structure the sessions to be efficient and respect your time. Most stakeholders find the workshop itself valuable, not just the output.
